Learn about the Semantic Web
The semantic web is composed of many standards and terms. Many of them are overly technical and you are by no means required to have a firm understanding of these terms in order to use the Semantify service. If you'd like to learn more on the semantic web, here are a bunch of relevant resources:
- The Semantic Web, by Tim Berners-Lee, James Hendler and Ora Lassila
The original semantic web manifesto - Resource Description Framework (RDF) / W3C Semantic Web Activity
The official W3C RDF spec - Resource Description Framework - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
- RDFa Primer
- The official microformats site
- The Yahoo announcement
The standard namespaces Yahoo search supports
| Namespace | Used to describe |
|---|---|
| Dublin Core | "Digital materials such as video, sound, image, text, and composite media like web pages" |
| Creative Commons | Content licences |
| FOAF | "People, the links between them and the things they create and do."" |
| GeoRSS | Location in an interoperable latitude and longitude format |
| MediaRSS | Media such as audio and video |
